Uncle Brians Day trip - Our Last Adventure!

We had decided to spoil ourselves for our last 2 nights together so we had booked a twin room in Gilligans in Cairns and I can tell you that it was better than any hotel I have been in. It was such a novelty to have our own space AND A T.V.!!!! We spent the first hour just watching Neighbours and Home and Away! Bliss!! I forgot to mention that the last time we were in Cairns we went to the night markets. These are on every night and really worth a look. We didn't bother this time round as we knew we needed an early night to prepare for our fun-filled day on the Uncle Brians day trip to the Atheton Tablelands.

And what a funfilled day it was too! We got Gus the bus with Uncle Bart as the driver. From the offset he had everyone in stitches (bare in mind that it was 8am). Elmo was his companion and beeped and waved at all the passersby. There were puzzles on board incase you were board, a book full of comic stips and the best array of music you could ask for. There was plenty of singing along the way!

After our morning tea stop, our first major stop was the Josephine falls, where we went rock sliding. It was such a laugh. Basically, the rocks are all really slippy, but one in particular has a wall of water running down it and it is a relatively flat surface so it is perfect as a water slide! Plenty of fun was had here!! We basked in the sun for a while, did somemore sliding and then it was off to meet Mr. and Mrs. Lunch who provided us with some much needed sustenance!!

Straight after lunch we went to the Millaa Millaa Falls. This is where the famous Timotei add was filmed, not to forget Peter Andre's Mysterious Girl! The water was bloody freezing!!! It really caught your breath. We swam around the back of the falls, climbed up on the rocks and watched the water plumeting down. It was really spectacular. Then we dove in under the water and set the scene for the timotei reinactments!!It took a while, but we finally got there! We were practically numb from the cold, but it was worth it!

Next we went Turtle watching and after that Platypus watching. But one of the best parts of the day was definitely the drive home! We sang and danced the whole way home and nobody wanted to get off the bus. This trip is definitely the best one I have done. You are GUARANTEED to have a blast of a day! There's nobody who wouldn't enjoy this day! So make sure it is on your itinerary if you are ever going to Cairns.

Apart from anything it was the perfect way for Anne and myself to spend our last day together. I can't believe that the 6 weeks are over. It is so sad, but we really had the most amazing time and we didn't waste a single second. We did absolutely everything there was to be done (and spent a fortune but we'll gloss over that fact!)and we wouldn't change a single second of it. It was the holiday of a lifetime and the next 4 months will be hard pushed to live up to it!
