Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas

After a quick stopover in Cairns we were off on our next adventure, this one to Cape Tribulation. It was yet another early start, but sure we're well used to them now. I think I've had a total of 3 sleep-ins since I left home 4 months ago!!

Our first stop was a crocodile cruise on the Daintree River. We saw 3 crocs (one huge one) and some birds, but no snakes unfortunately. Then we headed to a boardwalk through the rainforest (I can't for the life of me remember the name of it!!)It was pretty cool though. We saw lots of strangular figs! Then it was on to Cape Tribulaion and the Ferntrees hostel (which has lovely rooms btw!)

We decided that we hadn't done enough walking earlier so we went for another walk along the Myall boardwalk and then down the Myall beach. It was gEorgeous! We cooked dinner that night (in the grotty shithole that is the kitchen in Ferntrees) and did nothing else!!

We arose early the next morn and headed off on another walk. First to the Mason's waterhole and then to Myall beach. Coming from the waterhole to the beach you have to walk along a croc infested creek. On all the maps you are warned not to go near the creek and then they put a major walking trek right next to it!!! We practically ran past that part and when we heard a rustle in some shrubbery we legged it!!! From the end of Myall beach we went inland heading for Cape Tribulation beach. We just lay there for an hour and then we had to head home to prepare for our Jungle Surfing experience!!

This consisted of being on a rope attached to the top of the trees. You are on a pulley system and you literally fly from one tree to another. Some parts you glide along slowly, others you fly and another you go upside down!! It was a great laugh. Anne however decided that this was not enough adventure for her so she licked the arse of a green ant (it tastes like lemon sherbert) AND ate a termite!! I'm tellin ya guys, she's really being brave over here, she even got rid of a scorpion looking spider from the bathroom (admittedly by squishing it with my flip-flop, oops sorry, thong!)

We treated ourselves to a lovely dinner that night and even a bottle of wine! The next day we headed towards Port Douglas, stopping at the Mossman Gorge on the way.
This is a stunningly beautiful place and you could literally stay here all day, but unfortunately we only had 45 mins, a fair bit of which was spent jumping on the suspension bridge(see the pic gallery!) Then it was off to Port Douglas!

I had been here before and I had really built it up for Anne so I was worried that she wouldn't like it, but she loved it just as much as I do! It really is a gEourgeous little town, very picturesque altogether. We went out for a very yummy dinner the first night (followed by liquid desserts!)We had an early night that night in preparation for our reef trip the next day. Or I should say we INTENDED to have an early night but some idiot of a girl brought a guy back to the room at 4am (a female dorm) and he snored so loudly that none of the rest of us got any sleep after that. I even tried shaking him to wake up but to no avail. I was so pissed off! We were wrecked the next morning and both of us started slamming things around the room while we were getting ready and talking loudly. The girl left(she wasn't even meant to be staying there) but the guy stayed.

Anyway, we had a great day out on the reef. It was cloudy for most of the day which was unfortunate as it made the colours harder to see, but on the other hand it meant that we didn't get scorched to bits! Anne was rather poorly on the way out and I have to admit that I wasn't feeling a hundred percent myself! It was just a little bit rough!! We saw plenty of marine life like Nemo's, parrot fish and a million other varieties that I couldn't even hope to remember. No sea turtles or reef sharks though. It was a lovely day.

The next day was spent shopping and walking the beach and our last day was spent on the beach before being collected and heading back to Cairns. I will be back again!!
