Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas

After a quick stopover in Cairns we were off on our next adventure, this one to Cape Tribulation. It was yet another early start, but sure we're well used to them now. I think I've had a total of 3 sleep-ins since I left home 4 months ago!!
Our first stop was a crocodile cruise on the Daintree River. We saw 3 crocs (one huge one) and some birds, but no snakes unfortunately. Then we headed to a boardwalk through the rainforest (I can't for the life of me remember the name of it!!)It was pretty cool though. We saw lots of strangular figs! Then it was on to Cape Tribulaion and the Ferntrees hostel (which has lovely rooms btw!)

We arose early the next morn and headed off on another walk. First to the Mason's waterhole and then to Myall beach. Coming from the waterhole to the beach you have to walk along a croc infested creek. On all the maps you are warned not to go near the creek and then they put a major walking trek right next to it!!! We practically ran past that part and when we heard a rustle in some shrubbery we legged it!!! From the end of Myall beach we went inland heading for Cape Tribulation beach. We just lay there for an hour and then we had to head home to prepare for our Jungle Surfing experience!!

We treated ourselves to a lovely dinner that night and even a bottle of wine! The next day we headed towards Port Douglas, stopping at the Mossman Gorge on the way.

I had been here before and I had really built it up for Anne so I was worried that she wouldn't like it, but she loved it just as much as I do! It really is a gEourgeous little town, very picturesque altogether.

Anyway, we had a great day out on the reef. It was cloudy for most of the day which was unfortunate as it made the colours harder to see, but on the other hand it meant that we didn't get scorched to bits! Anne was rather poorly on the way out and I have to admit that I wasn't feeling a hundred percent myself! It was just a little bit rough!! We saw plenty of marine life like Nemo's, parrot fish and a million other varieties that I couldn't even hope to remember. No sea turtles or reef sharks though. It was a lovely day.
The next day was spent shopping and walking the beach and our last day was spent on the beach before being collected and heading back to Cairns. I will be back again!!
